La Balada del Viento y el Tiempo will be digitally released worldwide on June 18th. 2019 where all good music is sold: Amazon, Bandcamp, CD Baby, Deezer, Google Music, iTunes, Spotify, and Tidleto name but a few.

The new track is a piano jazz ballad inspired in the poem “Размышления о ветре и времени” (trans. “Reflections on wind and time“) by Russian poetess Anastasía Romanova and portrays the struggles of two monumental and transcendental forces: the Wind, fierce, untamed and unpredictable, and Time, immutable, unchanging, eternal. It’s short and sweet, yet intense.

Reflections on Wind and Time (Adapted to English)

“The fusion of two vastly different phenomena. The steadiness of time and the suddenness of wind. Wild element and continuity. What happens when they meet? Can they be together? Time flows and will flow forever. It is everywhere, so delicate, perfect, simple and wise. Time simply is. The Wind is instantaneous: it appears and then it is gone. You cannot keep up with it; it is impossible to find.

The wind comes only to seek shelter and escape from the loneliness. Despite its tremendous strength and bravery, it is always alone. Homeless. The time it’s its place to soothe down, at least for a moment. Time is measured, steady and calm. It placidly waits for the wind to dissolve in it. But then, time is destabilized; it slows down, it speeds up, it freezes. Time loses its objectivity. And the wind, surrendered, transmutes from a hurricane into a gentle breeze. These precious moments of breeze, in which wind and time reunite; a surge of energy so strong it could split the sky in half.

They want to be together and could be together, but the wind has to leave, again. It is in its nature. Time is free of everything except for itself. The energy within its core is stronger than itself. The wind is torn apart, worn out. Reaching out for peace yet not finding any. It needs Time again: its greatness and immensity. Time has no need to rush nor deviate. There is only one path for it, and it is constant, steady. Time is always waiting; it knows how to wait. It needs the wind to ultimately feel alive. They should be together. They need each other. Together, they are one. Together, they are invincible. Steadiness and perpetual motion. They are perfect together. They are perfect.”

That being said, in terms of my-career-moving-forward, I somehow feel the ballad is a transitional single, sort of a “preamble” to larger releases.

What’s next?

It’s been a long journey this past year and a half. Colin Tench‘s passing hit really close to home and affected me a great deal. But he was my staunchest supporter and would kick my ass if he believed I was slacking off. And since I prefer my asses unkicked, I was not.

I delayed an album to regroup and see where to take my career. Colin‘s passing made me reconsider a lot of things, and I’ve been quite active ever since. Mostly in his memory.

We released “August ” in his memory on February 2018. It was never meant to be a one-time, isolated thing

The Single “August” was meant to be the first of a trilogy in Colin Tench’s memory. Around late July, we’ll be releasing “December (A Warm Embrace)“, six and a half minutes long. “August” was a farewell in a cold winter morning. “December” is warm, full of lovely memories but with the nostalgia of missing who is no longer with us, and the emotional rollercoaster it forces us to endure.

Right after “December“, we decided to release “Across The Ocean“, a five-tracks EP. This will be my first material with vocals! Proper songs! YAY! We believe it’ll be out around September.

Around December 20th (my 35th birthday), the last third of the trilogy will be out: “April (The Final Acceptance)” (title still to be decided). April will NOT be released as a single, but as the third track of an EP along with August and December. The whole EP is a journey through grief, sorrow, melancholy, nostalgia, and finally, making peace with our loss. It even has some unused and unheard Colin guitar takes. I still haven’t come up with a name for the album, so I accept suggestions!

Around March 2020, “World Citizen” will hit the market. Another 5-tracks-EP; a conceptual follow-up to “Across The Ocean“. There’s another EP in store after WC, but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Let’s enjoy these ones first.

Stay tuned for 2021. With 4 or 5 EPs already under my belt, Wötan: The Untold Story will be back!
