Wings of Destiny, previously called Destiny, is a Power Metal band from Costa Rica formed in late 2013 by vocalist Anton Darusso and bassist Bryan S. Molina, with strong influences from bands like Stratovarius, Angra, Helloween, and Rhapsody, among others. Currently, the band consists of six members: Anton Darusso (vocalist and founder of the band), Alejandro Amador (keyboards), Dani Chaves (Lead guitar), Cristian Jiménez (Rhythm guitar), Edgardo Monge (bass) and Roberto Ulloa (drums).
Bryan left the project shortly before the premiere of his debut album TIME which was produced by Marco Castro at Audio Macc Studios. Along with the debut of his debut album, also premiered his first video of the song Time, which gave the name to the album. In June of 2014, the first performance of the band was carried out at FireHouse Rock Bar.
In that same year, Destiny signed with the German label PowerProg and released a special edition of the CD TIME, which contains two bonus tracks, one of them with the participation of the Italian vocalist Roberto Tiranti (formerly Labyrinth). At the end, the band changed its name to WINGS OF DESTINY, due to the existence of a European band with the name Destiny. Parallel to the change of name, the band began to work in the second production.
In 2015, the band was dedicated to the production of the new CD, which would be called Kings Of Terror. For this opportunity, the band had the collaboration of the famous singer Fabio Lione (ex Rhapsody of Fire, Angra) in the recording of one of their songs: Angels and Demons. With a few presentations that year, at the end of 2015, the definitive version of the album TIME, under the new name of Wings of Destiny, came out with a new theme and the collaboration of the vocalist and producer Marco Castro.
At the beginning of 2016, the band released two singles from the new album, both the lyric video of Angels and Demons (with the participation of Lione) and Kings of Terror. In June of this year, the CD Kings Of Terror premiered along with the music video of the ballad Eternity.
At the end of 2016, the band finished its contract with PowerProg and a series of concerts were held in Costa Rica. The band also won the award for the best metal disc of the year in Costa Rica given by Asociación de Compositores y Autores Musicales (ACAM). In this year, the most recent member of the band, the guitarist Dani Chaves, was integrated at the beginning of 2017, Wings of Destiny released the video of the single Circle Of Fire in addition to being the support band of Kalmah in April.
Vocalist and founder of the band. Born in Russia, he took singing and piano lessons in Moscow, where he lived until he was 17 years old. In Costa Rica, he continued his music studies under several teachers, included the classic tenor Gourguen Mikrtitshian. Throughout his musical career, he has participated in diverse national and international projects with artists from the USA, Russia, Italy, México, Guatemala, and Germany.
Started his piano studies at age 4 in Academia de Música Bansbach. Afterward, he entered the Universidad de Costa Rica, where he graduated of “Etapa básica con Énfasis en piano” at age 17. He has experimented with many music genres, from salsa music to metal, both in the keyboards and with the violin. In 2013 he formed part of the ad hoc band that performed with Tim “Ripper” Owens, ex-Judas Priest, in Costa Rica.
The youngest band member, he started in the guitar world during high school, heavily influenced by bands such as Iron Maiden and Rhapsody. In 2009 he enters the electric guitar program at the Escuela Superior de Guitarra, where he graduated in 2012. He has been the guitarist of Wings of Destiny since its beginning in 2014. His biggest musical influences to date are bands such as Avantasia, Epica, Helloween, and Rhapsody.
Started his classic guitar studies at age 12 and eventually enters the University of Costa Rica and complements his studies in jazz and fusion in different academies. At age 15 he records his first album (Mythril) with influences of progressive metal. Founder of the progressive metal band Reason Remains with whom records the EP Fallen and Risen. Musician and architect, he is the newest member of the band.
Born and raised in San Jose Costa Rica, Emil developed his love for rock and metal music since his early days. Started playing some acoustic guitar acoustics year in high school and became bass player a few years later. Bands like Iron Maiden, Helloween, Dio, Stratovarius and others, are his influences in addition to some progressive metal. Has a great way to combine bass lines. Between groove and speed, he always tries different atmospheres to express what every melody feels.
Roberto started his drums studies by himself. Self-taught he later entered the Escuela Municipal de Música de Esparza, has he strengthened his knowledge in drums and percussion. In 2014 he enters Academia Sanders, were he studied under drummer Carlos Sanders (Swing en 4). Member of Wings of Destiny since 2016, he is also the founder of the Facebook group “Bateristas de Costa Rica”, page that agglutinates today around 5.700 musicians.
