Bright Weaving is the latest double album from renowned illustrator, composer, and musician Martin Springett. The album features 21 tracks, this expanded edition builds upon the original 2010 release, which was a limited 16-track digital album. Inspired by the novels of Guy Gavriel Kay, the music serves as a sonic journey through the landscapes and cultures depicted in his works.

The album highlights an impressive lineup of musicians, including the stunning vocals of Danie Friesen on Rachel’s Song, alongside Alyssa Wright on cello, Bob Brough on soprano saxophone, Rahlen Sullaphen on bass, Maryem Hassan Tollar on vocals, Chris McKhool (Sultans of String) on violin, Penner MacKay on drums and percussion, Prof. Rob Burns on bass, and Rebecca Fielder and Miriam Springett on flutes.

“Written and recorded over the last twenty years, Bright Weaving is like a musical diary for me,” says Martin. “It not only responds to these incredible novels as they were released but also reflects my evolving musical interests, shaped by the varied settings of the books—Spain, Italy, the Middle East, China, England, and beyond.”

This marks Martin’s first solo album in nearly a decade and his first-ever double album, spanning nearly 90 minutes of music. Known for his seamless fusion of art and sound, Springett’s return to solo recording offers an immersive and deeply personal collection of compositions. The CD package also includes stunning new artwork, commemorating the 40th anniversary of The Summer Tree, the first book in Guy Gavriel Kay’s The Fionavar Tapestry.

With Bright Weaving, Springett continues to push the boundaries of artistic expression, offering fans a richly textured and evocative listening experience.
