The Madrigal Project

Short Bio

The Madrigal Project is a musical collective founded by Kevin Dodson in Spokane, Washington. Drawing inspiration from progressive rock’s rich history while forging a distinct sound of its own, the project brings together an exceptional lineup of musicians to create music that is both forward-thinking and deeply rooted in the genre’s legacy.

“The Madrigal Project was conceived by American progressive rock musician, songwriter, lyricist, drummer, vocalist, composer, and producer Dodson—formerly of the cult progressive rock band Madrigal—as a collaborative effort that blends classic prog influences with a fresh and contemporary approach.”

Kevin Dodson is a producer, songwriter, lyricist, drummer and vocalist from Spokane, Washington. As a versatile musician and producer, he has collaborated with numerous artists as a studio session drummer and vocalist, bringing his expertise to a diverse array of projects. He is an award-winning composer and producer whose work has graced major networks such as ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN, Warner Bros., Buena Vista Television, and Telemundo. His successful series, Percussive Action, highlights his innovative approach to drum production.

Kevin Dodson was the creative force behind the progressive rock band Madrigal, who released two studio albums, ‘Waiting‘ (1988) and ‘On My Hands‘ (1996). Both of these albums remain cult favourites among die-hard crossover prog enthusiasts.

The Madrigal Project is in many ways a spiritual successor to Madrigal and the new music builds on that foundation, infusing classic progressive rock songwriting with contemporary influences and fresh collaborations.

Kevin Dodson has spent a lifetime immersed in music. “I’ve always felt a deep connection to music, it’s been one of the guiding forces in my life.” His story is one of passion, persistence, and an unwavering commitment to his craft.

With the album continuing to gain momentum, The Madrigal Project is looking ahead to bringing the music to the stage. “We’re in the process of assembling a live band, which is an exciting next step,” Dodson shares. “This music was created with a deep love for the progressive rock tradition, and we want to deliver it to audiences in a way that does justice to the vision behind 11th Hour.” The Madrigal Project extends its heartfelt thanks to the progressive rock community for spreading the word, championing independent music, and keeping the spirit of the genre alive.

Kevin has announced a new album in the writing, recording and production phase that he is determined to get out by late 2025 or early 2026.
