Potter’s Daughter

Bio

Potter’s Daughter was formed in NYC while Dyanne was studying classical piano performance at the Manhattan School of Music. The group performed regularly in NYC, as well as in northeastern PA. Potter’s Daughter has been featured on radio, tv, and in national and international magazines and blogs. Now, joining forces with longtime friend, Amit Chatterjee, (producer, arranger, and guitarist), and Ian C. Voegtlin (composer, guitarist, and saxophonist), they released the new Art Rock/Prog Fusion album, The Blind Side, (released Aug 2018) which features Lincoln Goines on bass and Randy Crafton on acoustic drum set and percussion. Most recently they released a follow-up single, Blood and Water (released Aug 2019) which features Annie Haslam (lead vocalist in Renaissance) as guest vocalist.

Dyanne Potter Voegtlin – Composer, Piano & Vocals

Dyanne has performed extensively throughout Europe and the USA as both a classical pianist and as a singer/songwriter. Her piano performances are known to be expressive, fiery, and dynamic, her singing both sensitive and passionate.

Concert venues include Carnegie Recital Hall, NYC, The University of London, England, Karthausse Ittingen, Switzerland, Oberlin College, Indiana University, University of Georgia, Georgia State University and LaGrange College. She toured for two years as keyboard player for Shirley Reeves (former lead singer with the Shirelles), and later as keyboard player/backup singer with Noel Redding which resulted in shows with Ginger Baker and Tico Torres. She has played solo shows in Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, the USA, Greece, and Japan.

Amit Chatterjee – Producer, Arranger, & Lead Guitars

Amit Chatterjee, an internationally reputed guitarist, sitarist, composer and vocalist, is known for his sensitive yet passionate approach in both his instrumental and vocal artistry and bringing a certain “global” element to his unique compositions.

Amit played guitar for 11 years with the legendary keyboardist and composer Joe Zawinul, who publicly said of Amit, “a genius…one of the greatest musicians I have ever had the pleasure of working with.”

He has also recorded and performed extensively as a guest artist with luminaries from multiple genres, such as David Liebman, Eric Johnson, Carlos Santana, Sting, Badal Roy, Pete Lockett, Trilok Gurtu, Nitin Sawhney, Vicki Richards, Robert Thomas Jr., Layne Redmond, Glen Velez, Michael Wolff, Mike Clark, and many others.

Amit’s most recent releases of original works include: “Ocean on Fire” – based on the mystic poems of Kabir (a 15th-century Indian saint), as a much-awaited follow-up to Amit’s critically acclaimed “Songs of Kabir” with Glen Velez, and “Accidental Kiss”, the first release of his international band, The Amit Chatterjee Alliance.

Other current projects include “Blessings”, with legendary tabla-ist Badal Roy, Taalisman, the trance-world/jazz collaboration with Pete Lockett with a new CD also titled “Taalisman”, (IndiaBeat – EMI) as well as ongoing musical ventures in a power trio – Saninde , with Lincoln Goines and Rocky Bryant .

Jan-Christian Vögtlin – Composer, Saxophone, & Rhythm Guitar

Jan-Christian is a co-composer of almost all our material. He is a multi-instrumentalist, primarily playing bass. Focusing on unrelenting groove, his wide knowledge of modern jazz harmony, melody, and rhythm allow him to effortlessly combine and move between genres ranging from progressive rock to jazz and fusion to world music. Classically trained in Switzerland (where he was born and raised), his compositions build upon poignant melodies and chordal movement along with a strong rhythmic presence, and are influenced by classical, impressionist, jazz, and fusion schools. One of the most unique aspects of Jan’s bass playing is his combination of traditional and non-traditional approaches to bass. He solos on the bass as effortlessly as if the instrument were a guitar; he is featured soloist in many of our songs, especially in live performances. Jan is endorsed by the Ribbecke Guitar Company, with whom he is developing an innovative one-off 7-string bass. He is also known for playing R-Bass and Zon Fretless basses.
